Goldsky vs Ankr

Last updated

A practical comparison of RPC access, wallet data, indexing, and streaming, including how to use Goldsky and Ankr together.

Goldsky vs Ankr: the verdict

Ankr sells a JSON-RPC and REST Node API on three plans, Public, Freemium, and Premium.[2][1] It fits if you need non-EVM chains, a free tier, WebSocket, or signed RPC responses. Ankr also runs a rollup deployment business.[10]

Goldsky fits if you want flat per-request pricing for EVM RPC and wallet data with Edge RPC and Feeds. It also fits if you want to keep Ankr and put Boost in front of it. It also fits if you run subgraphs or stream onchain data into your own database.

Compare products, pricing, and platform capabilities

Ankr sells the Node API, the indexed Advanced API, and a hosted MCP server for agents. Edge RPC replaces raw RPC calls. Boost is an RPC CDN in front of Ankr. Feeds returns wallet balances and transfers. Goldsky also runs Subgraphs and Turbo pipelines.

RPC services: Edge RPC vs the Ankr Node API

Edge RPC serves JSON-RPC requests for EVM networks from 8+ regions with automatic failover. It prices every method the same, at a flat $5 per million requests.[13]

  • Ankr plans: Public costs $0 and needs no sign-in. Freemium costs $0 and includes 200,000,000 API credits a month. Premium is pay-as-you-go from a $10 minimum deposit.[1]
  • Rate limits: Ankr publishes about 20 requests per second for the Public plan.[5] Freemium uses Public-tier rate limits. Premium reaches about 1,500 requests per second per endpoint, and about 4,000 on Solana.[1]
  • Request limits: maximum batch size is 10 on Public, 100 on Freemium, and 1,000 on Premium. Maximum block range is 1,000, 3,000, and 10,000. eth_getLogs returns at most 200,000 logs on every plan.[1]
  • Where Ankr goes further, transport: WebSocket runs on Premium, with 500 concurrent connections per source IP and a 15MB maximum message size. Goldsky Edge RPC is HTTPS only.[1]
  • Where Ankr goes further, attestation: Verifiable RPC signs every response inside an Intel TDX enclave, verifiable offline by the client.[6] Every Premium key can call it on Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon since October 27, 2026.[7] Confidential RPC is in a demo phase as of October 22, 2026.[8] Goldsky has no equivalent product.
  • Where Ankr goes further, isolation: Enterprise provisions dedicated nodes isolated from the shared pool, in the regions you choose. Goldsky publishes no dedicated-node option.[12]

Run Ankr and Goldsky Boost together

Boost is an RPC CDN in front of your existing RPC provider. It works with Ankr, and with any other provider you already use.[14] You can run both together, keeping Ankr for what only Ankr does while Boost answers the reads it can.

  • What Boost answers: eligible historical and tip-of-chain reads, from Goldsky’s indexed data.[14]
  • What stays on Ankr: everything else. Your Ankr projects and API keys stay in place.[14]
  • Setup: change one endpoint URL, with no other code changes and no provider switch. Boost is HTTPS only.[15]
  • Pricing: Boost is free for a limited time, with no charge for served or forwarded requests. You keep paying Ankr only for the requests Boost cannot answer.[16]
  • Visibility: every response carries an x-cache header showing whether Boost served it or forwarded it.[14]

Wallet and token data: Feeds vs Advanced API

Feeds is a REST API that returns a wallet’s balances, transfer history, and token metadata and prices across 8 EVM chains. It costs $0.35 per 1,000 requests, with no extra charge for a different endpoint.[17]

Ankr Advanced API covers more chains. It serves NFT, Token, and Query methods across 19 mainnets and 6 testnets, with JavaScript and Python SDKs and React hooks.[5] Each Advanced API call costs 700 credits, or $0.00007 at the published credit price.[1]

Goldsky also offers Compose for onchain automation. Compose runs customer-written TypeScript tasks in Goldsky-hosted sandboxes, on the Scale plan only.

Indexing and streaming

  • Subgraphs: Goldsky Subgraphs is a managed service that hosts graph-node-spec subgraphs and serves GraphQL.[18] Ankr’s indexed data comes from Advanced API query endpoints instead.[5]
  • Ankr agent access: a hosted MCP server offers 25 read-only tools that query chain data across the served chains, next to TORPC, an open CC0 header spec.[9]
  • Goldsky agent access: a hosted MCP server lets any MCP client search and read the Goldsky docs, with no API key. It is listed in the official MCP Registry as com.goldsky/docs.[21][23] The Goldsky Agent skill pack adds skills for Turbo, Mirror, Subgraphs, Edge RPC, Boost, and Feeds to Claude Code, Cursor, and 30+ other coding agents.[22] The Goldsky Compose Agent pack adds skills that build and debug Compose apps.[24] Agents can pay for Edge RPC and Feeds per call over x402, with no Goldsky account.[25][26]
  • Goldsky Turbo pipelines: Turbo is a vendor-managed pipeline into 11 sink types, with SQL and TypeScript transforms.[20] Reorgs are detected at ingestion and walked back, and keyed sinks converge automatically.[19]

Chain support

  • Ankr: the docs chains list names 66 chains. Solana, Bitcoin, TRON, XRP, Stellar, TON, Sui, Aptos, NEAR, Polkadot, IOTA, and Nervos CKB sit next to the EVM chains.[4] Polkadot needs a Freemium or Premium account.[1]
  • Goldsky: Edge RPC covers EVM networks only.[13] The subgraph coverage matrix lists 106 chains. Turbo pipelines add Solana, Bitcoin, Stellar, NEAR, Movement, and Hypercore.[27]

Ankr serves many non-EVM chains where Edge RPC has no coverage. Goldsky’s current chain list is on the chains page.
